time is not enough


it always happens this way,
i knew it.

i know it.


i have shoved the solemn missing-yous
and the weighty goodbyes
into a small brown box.

it is on the shelf in my closet,
there to gather dust.
to be forgotten.


because some things are too heavy to bear
and i'm not quite sure how to abandon them.
surrender. relinquish.

it is not painless, it is not effortless.


it is something more.

something marvelous, and something incredibly selfless.
something pure and holy.

i haven't quite figured it out yet.

maybe i never will.
