We were only about ten minutes into the interrogation when my stomach grumbled. Carl looked over at me and I smiled sheepishly. He just rolled his eyes.

"Miss Tan," Bartley, a crazy buff dude, said. "We have reason to believe that you hold information on your parents, whether you were two years old or not."

"Because," He turned to stare at Keilah intensely. I would be shaking in my boots if I was her. "You are the key to the information."

This went on for quite awhile, unfortunately. Bartley would ask questions and try to get somewhere, but it was obvious that Keilah had no information on her parents. She was quite useless. Was she even the right person?

I hoped she was. Because that would be very awkward if I went through all of that work just to find out I grabbed the wrong girl. But she fit the description and they did say it was her.

I was on my way to the kitchen when Carl spoke my name again. I groaned. Why did it always have to be me? I just wanted the pie. And maybe some milk.

"Yeah, Carl?" The annoyance was evident in my tone, but Carl ignored it.

"What do you think about Keilah Fleming?" He rubbed his face.

"Uh, I don't know. She's feisty and kicked me in the face." And it hurt.

"That's not what I meant, dumbo. Do you think she's hiding back information? Her parents are spies, it's possible that she could be pretending not to know anything."

"Do you even think you have the right girl?" I asked, trying to walk to the kitchen and make Carl follow me.

"What do you mean?" I had no idea why Carl was interested in my opinion on her since I was very close to being kicked out, but I answered anyway.

"Isn't there a study or something that there are 5 or 6 other people that look like you? She could be one of them. We've been wrong before."

I turned and started to walk. Thankfully, Carl followed.

"But that's completely ridiculous. Of course we have the right girl. The Search team have been watching her for about a year. We got the information right. We matched everything up and even tested her DNA."

"She could be a high level spy, then," I said. We entered the kitchen and I grabbed a paper plate and a cup.

"Yeah, or she could know nothing at all." Carl was deep in thought.

"Why do you even want my opinion?" I asked as I poured a glass of milk. "I should be the last person."

"Under that awful exterior, you got brains." Carl looked me up and down. "At least, sometimes. But you think differently. You have new ideas and even though a lot of them are lame, you get me thinking different too."

He paused.

"Anyway," Carl yawned. "I have to go. Report back to the interrogation room in ten minutes."

I grabbed the pie out of the fridge and set it on the counter. I hummed to Carl in reply.

"And don't eat all the pie."

With that, he left.

"Finally," I mumbled. "Pie, I have waited forever."

The first bite of Gabi's fresh apple pie was the most beautiful thing I tasted in my entire life. It was definitely worth the wait. The only good thing out of this awful day.

Hannah will post part 7 next Monday
