falling suns

I think heroes are falling suns
oh, they shine so bright for a second
so full of beauty and dreams
there's so much to see and they light up the world
they give you hope
and love

but then
they fall

we fall with them
we fall down to our knees,
clutching them in pain

our fragile hearts start to crack
they bend
they break

oh, it hurts so much
some would say too much

it's so hard to stand up after you've fallen
it's so hard to hold on to hope

because,
when you look down at yourself,
all you see is a bruised and broken body
you are useless
you can't go on alone

you can't go on

you are a falling sun
you were so bright and majestic
but then you fell.

what do you do when you hit rock bottom?

when you get a crack too deep
that it runs straight to your soul
ripping you in half

what do you do?

oh, but you hold on, darling.

heal me, Lord, and i shall be healed; save me and i will be saved, for you are the one i praise. (jeremiah 17:14)

grasp His promises tight
cry until you have no more tears left
sing those bruised songs
bend so far that you break

and

don't be afraid to heal

because healing is the most important piece.

even heroes fall,
but they heal.

in time.

  1. Heroes... that's the really sad thing about them. They are all once shining in glory. Then the hard breaking events come, and then they break.

    1. But do you see, Morning? They heal. They learn to pick themselves back up. And I suppose the reason we love heroes so much is that they //do// heal and they //do// pick themselves back up after that awful fall. We admire their strength and courage because that's what we're searching for most. <3

  2. Aww, this is beyond true!
I love the part where you said, "what do you do?
oh, but you hold on, darling."
Most of my "heroes" have done the same thing you have described here....fallen, but they have healed.
I'm thankful that even though I'm not a "hero", God's promises are always there for me to hold onto!
