change

the day fell into night suddenly.

a change in the evening breeze.

mist fell from my eyes, the hidden revealed.

i have finally let you go.

       wait. let me speak.

words rain like a summer thunderstorm,

and i spill my guts.

this is the right thing. i feel it.

there is still much to do.

       i was dumb. i was selfish. i'm sorry.

turn to face the trees and go,

but something holds me back.

it's you.

                     you're not alone anymore. we're family.

i smile through the tears in my eyes. i tell you i know. it won't change, but i messed up and i have to go. problems don't fix themselves. i'll be back.

we share a joke and laugh.
