to the sun.

we picked a spot with wildflowers and sunlight. that warms your bones when you've been stuck in a cold building. 

we talked underneath the blue sky. we only had about fifteen minutes before we had to go get our campers and move on with the day. just a few precious minutes. i can't really recall what we talked about, but then we prayed. 

the trees softly blew in the wind, but they still rose.

to the sun. 

words don't last forever. our words. they tumble and they run and they fall and they soar. they fail when you expect them to succeed. 

they don't last forever. oh man. they don't. 

so we finished with our words. we already spoke them. we let the leaves accept them and throw them to the wind and to the sky. we let them flutter away. 

and then we laid back against the dirt of many years and summers. we laid underneath the sun and let it warm our bones. no words. 

no words, no words, no words. 

she laughed with the sun and tears fell out of my eyes like the stars. she knew. it was okay. we didn't need words then. we just need to feel and to feel and to feel. to let them fall like aspen leaves in the wind. 

the sun warmed our bones and the earth accepted our tears. dirt of a thousand years. memories planted and memories grown. dirt of a thousand years.
