Surrender

Dead eyes, lonely heart.

Oh, open your eyes, dead one. Open your heart. Let your soul see the sunlight.

Dead child, dead soul, dead heart.

Can there be hope for you, o little one?

Because I think there is. And I want to help. Oh my soul, I do. And I try and try and try.

 But I fail. Because I cannot. 

And so I surrender you, lost and dead one. I surrender you to the Lord. I cannot help you. 

I want to. 

I want your eyes to shine with laughter once more. I want to see a grin like the sun on your face. I want to watch you run free in the Lord.

But I cannot do that.

So I surrender you up to the Lord.

And pray. 

And hope.

Surrender, surrender, why is it so hard? To give things up daily. 

But it is so worth it. 

Because I saw the dead child live holding God's hand. I saw his heart beat for a second. 

Hope, hope, hope. 

Surrender. 

thank you, Lord.

dead souls are being made new.
