risen

 https://www.pinterest.com/pin/222646775304652850/

there He was hanging on a cross
even in His last breaths saving a life
faithful even in pain; in death

my suffering swapped by His grace
a debt no longer my own
because of the Son hanging on that cross

"It is finished," he said, breathing his last
and I cry out, for the man who never sinned
bore the sin of the world on His shoulders

silent days go by
mourning because of this loss
not understanding that He will rise again

on the third day,
while it was still dark,
the stone covering the tomb was rolled back

"He is not here,"
the angel spoke.
"For He is risen, as he said."

and springing up like wildfire
those words were spoken
He is risen, He is risen!

even the powers of death
could not keep Him bound
all the glory be to Him

He was the Son at dawn
shining light on the shadowed valley
Rejoice, rejoice!

He is risen.
