there was a boy

there was a boy,
still and afraid

he was hope and love,
but he didn't know it
he didn't know he was needed

there was a boy,
full of fears and troubles

he was their light in the darkness,
but he didn't feel it
he didn't feel the fire deep down

there was a boy,
broken and torn

he was altogether lovely and beautiful,
he was lost and lonely
he was withering and almost gone

there was a boy,
quite like a dandelion

he shot up all over -- in more places than one
singing and shouting and sprouting
hope
