midnight rain

the smell of rain touched my soul

and i rushed to the door, opening it quickly

my bare feet touched the cement

and the sprinkle of rain, my skin

- be still, my soul, it's almost time. -

i waited for it to start falling heavier

i waited for the sky to start crying with my soul

but it just slowed, seemingly scared of me

please, my heart screamed

 - not yet, my eager soul, not yet. -

and so i stopped, breathing in one last smell

waiting one last second

come on, come on

- wait -

i woke up in the middle of the night,

glancing out the window,

and my soul leaped with joy

when i saw the midnight rain

dancing ever so gracefully

- it is time to let go, darling, and let your soul fly. -
