drifting along


drifting along these quiet lakes
o my soul, when did you last sleep?

the water ripples with every movement
just a reminder of the sleepless, weary soul that i am

i try to close my eyes
to rest in His peace
but the nightmares flare up in that darkness

even the sun forgot its own name

the blue sky is dull and the wind is harsh
the water is cool and the morning is in a rush
o my soul, o my soul
rest easy. rest easy. 

but i cannot.

so i drift along these quiet lakes
never reaching the shore

always seeing
but never believing

oh ye of little faith.
