A New Month

Oh, it is a new month. I can feel it in the air and in my life.

I can feel the days getting warmer and the snow getting softer. I can see the light slowly draining from the eyes of old ones. It is surprising. It is breath-taking. It hurts. 

Oh, it is a new month. 

A new month for words to grow and for tears to be shed. A new month for starting new things and pausing some old ones. A new month to plant some seeds and water them quietly. 

March on, my soul. March on. 

This fight is a hard one, I must say. My arms get tired and my soul cries for rest. But I get so caught up in fighting that I forget what I'm fighting and what is happening around me. I get so focused on myself. 

So I stop.

I breathe.

Oh, it is a new month.

It is one for breathing and lifting my eyes up to Him. It is for remembering what He said to me and applying it to my life. 

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 

Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Psalm 51:10-12

Here I am, Lord. 

Take my empty hands and my stumbling feet. 

Use them for Your glory

and not mine.
